Paper Bag Printing: Options for Custom Branding

How multi-colour offset printing works for custom paper bags — what it can achieve, the artwork process, and design approval.

Kyara Packaging uses multi-colour offset printing for custom paper bag branding. This enables logos, brand colours, patterns and promotional artwork to be reproduced directly on the bag across bulk orders. A customer-approved design is confirmed before production begins.

Multi-Colour Offset Printing

Offset printing is a widely used commercial printing process where ink is transferred from printing plates to paper via an intermediate rubber cylinder (the offset). The process is well suited to printing on large quantities of paper bags because it produces consistent, accurate colour reproduction across the full run.

Multi-colour offset printing supports full brand palettes — logos, wordmarks, patterns, background fills and photographic-quality artwork can all be reproduced. The process works across the paper types used for custom paper bags, including brown kraft, white kraft and art paper / SBS.

Brand Colours and Logos

Multi-colour offset printing reproduces brand colours, logos and wordmarks accurately across large quantities. Colour consistency is maintained through the offset printing process.

Patterns and Artwork

Repeat patterns, illustrated artwork, photography-derived images and complex multi-element designs can all be reproduced via offset printing. The quality of the result depends on the artwork preparation and the paper surface being printed on.

Printing on Different Papers

Offset printing can be applied to brown kraft, white kraft, art paper / SBS and other paper types. White paper provides higher colour contrast — colours appear more vibrant than on brown kraft. The paper surface also affects how ink sits and how the final result looks.

Consistency at Scale

Offset printing produces consistent results across bulk orders, making it well suited for businesses ordering 1,000 pieces or more. Colour and print quality are maintained throughout the run.

Artwork Preparation and Design Approval

Before printing begins, customer artwork is reviewed and a design approval is obtained. Production does not start until the specification and design are confirmed. This step ensures the final bag matches the intended design.

Artwork format

Vector artwork — Adobe Illustrator (AI), EPS or PDF files with fonts outlined and images embedded — is the preferred format for print production. Vector files scale to any size without quality loss and give the most accurate colour reproduction.

High-resolution raster images (TIFF or PSD at 300 dpi or above at the intended print size) are also suitable for photography-based or illustration-based artwork. Low- resolution files such as small JPEGs will not reproduce well at print scale and should be avoided.

Colour specification

Providing Pantone (PMS) colour references alongside your artwork helps ensure colour accuracy. CMYK values can also be specified. Colours may appear slightly different on different paper types — a vivid colour on white paper will appear with a warmer tone on brown kraft due to the background colour of the paper.

What happens after design approval

Once your specification and design are approved, production is coordinated according to the confirmed specification. Typical lead time after design approval is 3–7 working days, depending on quantity, complexity and finishing requirements.

Vector artwork (AI, EPS or PDF with embedded fonts and linked images) is generally preferred for print production. High-resolution raster files (TIFF or PSD at 300 dpi or above at the intended print size) are also accepted. JPEG files at sufficient resolution can work for photography-based artwork.
